Odeon Proposal

— 5 May 2020, 15:16 by Default Admin

The proposals seek to deliver a transformational development, served by the amenities within the town centre. Bringing more people to live in this location will help regenerate the area, increase footfall, bring increased trade both during the day and in the evening. It will help to improve the visual surveillance of our streets and enliven our community.

Key Details:

  • Outline Planning Application that overcomes the previous Planning Appeal Inspector’s objections on scale and height.
  • Retains the historic facades on both Westover and Hinton Roads
  • The proposal is for a mixed-use scheme of shops and flats to boost footfall and trade in Westover Road.
  • Above the two retail levels will be:
  • 64 apartments – a mixture of one, two and three bedrooms.
  • 66 parking spaces
  • A residents lounge and residents gardens
  • 1149m2 of either A1 (retail), A3 (restaurant), D1 (non-residential institution) or D2 (assembly & leisure) on the lower levels.

The Design:

  • After consultation with the council in the form of pre-applications, a Design Review Panel and during the planning process itself, we have a produced a scheme which:
  • Retains historic features of the building whilst enhancing the buildings presence on both Hinton Road and Westover Road.
  • Removes the current unpleasant asbestos clad warehouse roof, replacing it with an elegant extension that compliments the existing design.
